RAM DAS - Spain, Germany & India

Ram was born and raised in Spain. His zest for the arts soon turned his attention to music and performing. He funded his training as a theatre and dance performer playing his guitar and singing in the streets and in bars and it was during this studies that he firstly came in contact with yoga and meditation, more than 25 years ago.

He moved to London to pursue a Masters and a career in the performance field and, while slowly deepening his asana and meditation practice, he gradually gave in to his adventurous spirit and started a career in sailing and diving that lasted several years and took him to many corners around the world.

But eventually, spirituality overpowered the adventurous side of him and he made the commitment to teach yoga, becoming an Acharya in the South Indian Sivananda classic hatha tradition. When he’s not teaching at Green Yoga, he now spends his time between Berlin and India, teaching all aspects of yoga and several meditation techniques as well as Tandava Dance, a movement meditation coming from Kashmir Shaivism, understood to be the highest form of Indian Tantra. He also offers Holistic Therapy using bodywork (Thai Yoga, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release Massage) and yoga. He has trained in the Krishnamacharya tradition (Viniyoga) and continues studies of Yoga Therapy and Ayurveda in South India to become a Yoga Vaidya.

Ram had initiation into the Sri Vidya lineage of traditional Tantra and has embedded these teachings and practice into his everyday life, so don’t be surprised to often see him holding one of his malas or doing the occasional Yantra pooja.

Kat has always been drawn to the East. During her university studies, as well as right after
the graduation, she travelled and lived in some Middle Eastern countries, discovering
spirituality and simplicity that came in different than in the west forms. Yoga was one of the
practices she was introduced to at that time.

Her journey eventually took her to India, the country her heart recognised as home. There
she studied Yoga in various ashrams and centres over the years, slowly diving into the
depth and complexity of the paths, styles and techniques of this ancient art.
In the beginning, the path was not at all clear and Kat couldn’t say she knew exactly what
she was doing or what the goal was. It seemed like meticulous untangling of a myriad of
knots in some huge net that was covering her and impeding the vision. But by some
miracle, she kept on doing it, until particular practices became ingrained in her life.
That’s when she came to understand and appreciate the simple and yet profound
statement of Sri Pattabhi Jois: “Do your practice and all is coming”.

To Kat, Yoga is not about physical performance of the asanas (though those can be an
important part of the practice). It is an element of everything we do: “Whenever during the
day I remember to take an aware, conscious breath, I do Yoga. Whenever I master
equanimity in a difficult situation – I do Yoga. Whenever I remember to sit or stand with my
back and neck straight – I do Yoga. Whenever I choose challenging over an easy and
comfortable – I do Yoga. And yet, I may be going through my asana sequence, with the
mind dwelling in some emotion or concern, without the awareness of what I am doing or
feeling – and not do Yoga. The path is beautifully complex”.

Kat teaches Yoga asana, pranayama, meditation, alignment and adjustment and Yogic
She also conducts courses in Ayurvedic Yoga Massage, a technique combining deep
tissue massage, assisted Yogic stretches and energy work.
